Low Vision Service

LOW VISION SERVICE

CAN YOU READ THIS?
But can you read this?

It is very frustrating when you cannot see your favorite TV program; or read the newspaper; or sign your name on the line of the check; or see the label on your prescription medication; or see the hymnal at church; or the face of the person who stopped to talk with you. You're not alone!!

An estimated 3 million Americans live with partial or total vision impairment, including 600,000 to 900,000 classified as legally blind. Three eye diseases account for low vision in adults:

Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Glaucoma

The term Low Vision describes people like you who have a visual impairment that limits your ability to complete daily activities. There is help! Occupational Therapy helps people like you to safely and independently perform those daily activities. We can teach you to use remaining vision as efficiently as possible, modify tasks, and use adaptive equipment to compensate for low vision.
